PT Straits Consultancy Services is a 100% owned subsidiary of Straits Asia Resources (SAR) and houses all technical and supporting services to our mine operations.
 
Straits Asia Resources is a Singapore incorporated company listed on the SGX with a market capitalization of approximately SGD$ 2.0 billion. SAR is primarily engaged in the development and operation of two 100% owned coal mines in Kalimantan Indonesia. The Sebuku mine is located on Sebuku Island, South Kalimantan, and commenced production in 1997. The Sebuku mine currently has JORC compliant coal resources of 928 million tones and produced 1.98 million tonnes of thermal coal in 2009. In October 2007, SAR purchased the Jembayan coal mine in East Kalimantan which currently has JORC compliant resources of 504 million tonnes and produced 6.2 million tones of thermal coal in 2009. SAR has completed extensive exploration study to grow its resource and reserve base and is now embarking on an ambitious growth programme by ramping up production over the next few years.

Marketing – Operation Executive Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Collecting the 3rd party mine data such as its mine design, stripping ratio, production capability, reserve, coal quality produced, potential contamination, distance from mine to port, truck hauling rate, barge jetty loading rate, and jetty ownership.
• Making a mine analysis report for full scope its operation and information about the coal supplier it self, and then categorizing it into several potential and high potential or failed suppliers list.
• Looking for new coal supplier and categorizing it into a big/medium/small mine (coal mine rating criteria).
• Visiting the loading point including the anchorage point if necessary.
• Visual spot checking the coal quality by its appearance and checking the coal cleanliness during the mine visit.

Marketing – Operation Executive Requirement:

• Bachelor Degree in Geology or equivalent with Min GPA. 2.75 is advantage;
• Having minimum 2-3 years experience in coal trading and shipping;
• Good communication in English both verbal and written;
• Excellence in interpersonal skill and leadership, strong analytical and communication skill, hardworking, result and target oriented and good team work;
• Mature disposition, understand how to effectively approach and deal with local communities/government;
• Willing to travelling to mine/remote locations.
